Groovy Rock Star!
The JavaOne 2008 Rock Stars have been announced and author, speaker and all around Groovy guy, Scott Davis is at the top of the list!
JavaOne Rock Stars are selected by the attendees of the event through the attendee surveys. Scott was named for his presentation: Groovy, the Red Pill: Metaprogramming--How to Blow the Mind of Developers on the Java Platform. If you have had the opportunity to catch this presentation at either JavaOne, a NoFluffJustStuff event or elsewhere, then you can see why he has received this honor.
There were several other excellent Groovy / Grails sessions at JavaOne by groovy speakers like Guillaume Laforge, Dierk Koenig, Jeff Brown, Andres Almiray, Danno Ferrin, James Williams, Ixchel Ruiz and Chris Richardson. They are all rock stars in my book. Overall the Groovy and Grails excitement at this years JavaOne was palpable (I've always wanted to use that word :) So, in a way, and without stealing any of his well deserved kudos, Scott is representing the whole Groovy community by being named a JavaOne 2008 Rock Star.
Congratulations Scott and congratulations Groovy!

Aw shucks... Thanks.
I agree with Dave -- there were a ton of great Groovy/Grails talks at JavaOne this year. So many, in fact, that they were scheduled on top of each other in many cases. (I missed the dynamic languages smack-down b/c it was happening at the same time as my Red Pill talk.)
Cheers to everyone who spoke at JavaOne this year on Groovy and/or Grails.

Congratulations Scott!
Your concise style in both writing and presenting is most inspiring! Will the Red Pill presentation be made publicly available for viewing anytime soon? I'm working at trying to get people at my company to look at groovy/grails and I hoped the "Red Pill" might help.
Cheers!
